VCU Molecular Imaging Center Resources

Molecular Imaging facilites at VCUprovides state-of-the-art imaging facilities and technical support for conducting sponsored clinical and basic research.  The center also performs routine clinical F-18 FDG PET/CT studies which can be scheduled through usual VCUHS ordering pathways.

The key resources include: (follow links for more detailed information)

Molecular Imaging Laboratory/ Concorde microPET scanner

Radiochemistry Laboratory/ Cyclotron

Investigators interested in using the facility resources should contact the affiliated faculty to discuss the design, feasibility, and implementation the protocol.  After such consultation, a cost estimate for the requested services can be obtained.

Resources will be allocated according to the following criteria:

  1. Feasibility: Are the required expertise, equipment and personnel available?
  2. Appropriate Use of Imaging: Is imaging the best way to obtain the desired information?  Are the imaging techniques proposed in the protocol appropriate for the study?
  3. Funding or Extension of Current VCU Research Infrastructure: All studies using MIC resources must be funded from either internal or external sources, or involve the development of imaging resources that will be made available to other investigators. The university does not provide the MIC with funds to support the salaries of personnel or materials used.
Priority for use of MIC resources will be given to funded studies involving the development of imaging methodologies that promote advances in molecular targeting with application to patient care.
